Storefronts and the systems behind them

Catalogue, checkout and inventory, where a slow page and a double-charged card both cost the same thing — the order.

What this domain does to the build

The stack is broadly the same everywhere. These are the parts that are not, and they are usually where an estimate goes wrong.

  • Checkout is the one flow where a bug is measured directly in lost revenue
  • Payment webhooks arrive late, twice, or out of order, and the system has to be idempotent about it
  • Inventory is shared across channels, so the source of truth question cannot be deferred
  • Traffic is spiky — a sale or a campaign is a load event, not a gradual curve

What we typically build here

  • Storefront performance and Core Web Vitals
  • Payment integration with retry and reconciliation
  • Inventory and order sync between systems
  • Search, filtering and catalogue structure

The constraints are usually recognisable even when the domain is new to us. Describe them and we will say honestly whether we are the right team.
